Pictures in the News | Nov. 8, 2010

We begin our Pictures in the News feature Monday with a double-rainbow over the Bulgarian capital of Sofia. President Obama is in India, where survivors of the 1984 Bhopal gas disaster protested his visit; ahead of Armistice Day, the Edinburgh Garden of Remembrance opened in Scotland; and the first election in 20 years is set to begin in Myanmar.

A 12-year-old chimpanzee named Omega is being liberated from a 44-square-yard cage in Lebanon to a sanctuary in Brazil; signs of winter paint the landscape in the Black Forest region of southern Germany; and an image from the International Space Station shows the population concentration along the Nile Valley in Egypt.

Add stops in Indonesia, Thailand, Poland and Yemen, and that’s how we begin the week. Check back later in the day as we add to our report.
