Los Angeles Times Travel & Adventure Show: March 19 – 20, 2011
The Los Angeles Times Travel and Adventure Show is March 19 and 20 at the L.A. Convention Center, and this year there is a significant focus on photography. It’s a natural fit – when we travel, we want to preserve our memories. So, several Los Angeles Times photographers and editors will be giving mini-seminars throughout the day to teach better practices in travel photography. The variety of topics covered are listed in the program.
Each photographer and editor will break down a different topic in concise but casual 25-minute talks. Photographer Mark Boster will speak about his Yosemite project, and photographers Jay L. Clendenin, Brian van der Brug and videojournalist Myung Chun will give their insights based on their professional as well as personal experiences. Editors Richard Derk, Hal Wells and Calvin Hom will give a broad-stroke perspective on what makes a magical photo.
One of the sessions that is particularly exciting is on deconstructing your travel photography from a Los Angeles Times picture editor’s point of view. Send us your photography for a chance at getting a pro’s opinion.
