A day after her passing, acting legend Dame Elizabeth Taylor, immortalized in wax as Cleopatra, is remembered at Madame Tussauds in Hollywood.

At Arlington National Cemetery, across the Potomac from the nation’s capital, a bugler performs during a group burial service for the 11 recently discovered bodies of World War II airmen missing in action since 1943; in China, people cross the 200-year-old Tai Ping Bridge in Sichuan province, throwing old clothes and coins into the water in an annual tradition seeking happiness and health; while elsewhere in China, it’s Fashion Week in Beijing.

We have an exterior view of the colorful auditorium at the Niemeyer Center, a cultural complex designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, a day before its inauguration in Aviles, Spain; the new Swiss National Circus Knie is rehearsing near Zurich before the start of its 2011 European tour; and in Benghazi, Libya, the French and Kingdom of Libya flags are painted on the face of a young protester during a demonstration in support of allied airstrikes.

Images from Belgium, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, the Netherlands, South Korea and Tajikistan complete today’s global journey in pictures.
