Saint-Blaise, Switzerland — Amphibious cars motor across Lake Neuchatel near Saint-Blaise during the 26th meeting of amphibious cars. This week, owners of more than 50 of these amphibious vehicles brought their World War II-era military transporters, jeeps and vintage-style cars to Switzerland for their annual European gathering. Fitted with colorful sun umbrellas and decorated with flags, what looked like a motley crew of vehicles carrying families drove off the port and glided smoothly into the water before moving across Lake Neuchatel.

Jerusalem — Israeli soldiers mourn during the funeral of a comrade at the Mt. Herzl cemetery. Gunmen who appear to have originated in Gaza and who crossed into southern Israel through the Egyptian desert ambushed civilian vehicles traveling on a remote road, killing eight people. Six were civilians, and two were members of Israeli security forces responding to the incursion.
