Reader Photos: Best of Southern California Moments for October

October. It’s a time of fall, football and a bunch of protesters occupying the front lawn of Los Angeles City Hall. This month’s photos came from out in the desert in Niland and the Mojave National Preserve to right across the street from The Times at Occupy L.A. While only one photo from the protest made it into the best of this month, many, many, were submitted, and several of our Southern California Moments this month were from the events. The rest of the “best of” photos this month incorporate a good balance of color and black and white and are nearly all digital, which may be a first. And although we always look for unique perspectives in photography, who would have thought of the sky through a metro escalator tunnel looking like the world through outer space?
