Friday’s Pictures in the News begins in Budapest, Hungary, where a Holocaust survivor looks for the names of her relatives on a memorial wall at the Holocaust Memorial Center. She and others around the world were taking part in United Nations Holocaust Remembrance Day, marking the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camps 67 years ago.

In Albania, a man sits in candlelight as the village of Shtuf and other nearby communities have been without electric power for more than one year after the electrical transformer serving the area was stolen.

Elsewhere, camels line up at a market in Cairo; traders celebrating the fifth day of the Year of the Dragon in Beijing set off fireworks in hopes of bringing prosperity and good fortune; and we take a look at a “blue marble” image of Earth from a NASA satellite. Enjoy.
