The tradition of Holi, also known as Festival of Colors, heralds the beginning of spring and is celebrated all over India. Holi is marked at the end of the winter season on the last full-moon day of the lunar month Phalguna, which usually falls in the latter part of February or March.

Holi, the festival of colors

Holi, the joyous Hindu festival of colors, is celebrated mainly in India and Nepal.

According to the Hindu calendar, the spring festival coincides with the last full moon in the month of Phalguna.

People of all ages celebrate Holi by decorating one another with colored powder, giving the holiday its nickname.
