InCubation

I am drawn to films and photography with Cuba as the backdrop.  This mysterious nation is on my wish list to experience before the first Starbucks opens there.  Here’s a series of video portraits that offer a glimpse of its culture.

Boa Mistura

I added this because I adore this in concept and execution.  Boa Mistura is a Spanish art collective made up of five artists;  the tagline from their website reads:  “Boa Mistrua want to give the world its colour back. 5 heads, 10 hands, just one heart.”  They are recently generating quite a buzz from their work in the favelas of Sao Paulo, Brazil, where they created an optical illusion of sorts that is  creative,  bright and energetic, a wonderful display of street art, and incorporated the local residents to participate.    I really like their style and I was particularly drawn to this piece because of how the photography plays such a major role.

Food, Inc.

I re-watched the documentary Food Inc.  If you have yet to watch this, I recommend it.  It is eye-opening and lays down a foundation of information and leaves you thinking about what it is that we consume.  I’ll just leave it at that.

How Dogs Help Veterans Cope With PTSD

Dogs are the best!  This is a positive story  about dogs and how these beautiful animals offer love and healing.  It’s one of those rare positive stories about an issue that affects our veterans.
