IRIS Nights Lecture Series – Doug Rickard: Wednesday, April 25, 6:30-8:00 p.m.

American photographer Doug Rickard took everyday technology – Google Street View and photography – and brought these sources together to create a series called “A New American Picture.”  The project spanned two years, during which Rickard tirelessly scoured the scenes and roads across this country captured by the powerful Google Street View images.  The carefully selected photographs are a strong collection of the unseen and untold American stories that pass us by as we click through.   The images have a throwback feel, evoking something timeless. The innovative use of a Google product to present photography is an interesting push toward the future of modern art.

On Wednesday, Rickard is speaking and presenting his current work at a special IRIS Nights lecture at the Annenberg Space for Photography presented in partnership with MOPLA [Month of Photography].  Admission is free.
