Rescuers on Tuesday had recovered 103 bodies from the turbulent river after the heavily packed ferry capsized and broke apart, according to the Associated Press. About 100 people were still missing Tuesday evening, local time, and authorities said they feared that many had been swept by the current to neighboring Bangladesh.

Clashes erupted between stone-throwing demonstrators, who were rallying in support of Palestinians held in Israeli jails, and the Israeli soldiers, who fired tear gas, rubber bullets and a foul-smelling liquid known as "skunk" to break up the demonstration.
