This photo appeared in the April 7, 1977, edition of the Los Angeles Times, on opening day. The Dodgers beat the San Francisco Giants, 5-1, giving rookie manager Tom Lasorda his first win.
The 1977 Dodgers won the National League West with a 98-64 record and won the National League Championship Series in four games over the Philadelphia Phillies. They lost the 1977 World Series to the New York Yankees in six games.
