Convention Storybook

Convention Storybook looks at what political conventions have become. Photographs from the staff of the New York Times and narration by columnist Michael Barbaro offer a picture of conventions that have become highly produced stage productions.  The Storybook is sort of a play-by-play of what happened at this yea’rs two huge conventions.

Only Because We Can

The building soundtrack, amazing color palette — a multimedia extravaganza to sell clothes. Danish clothing design Only has teamed up with  North Kingdom, a Swedish digital agency, to create Only Because We Can, an interactive cinematic experience where users can … buy pants in a most interesting way.

The Exquisite Forest

The exquisite corpse is perhaps one of the earliest forms of crowd-sourced art. Played by writers such as Marcel Duchamp and Henry Miller, it is a word game that is played by contributors collectively adding to a set of words.

The Exquisite Forest is the modern version of the exquisite corpse. Online users collaborate by contributing to a digital forest of sounds and animation to create an organically growing animation. The project is reminiscent of http://www.thejohnnycashproject.com/, where users contribute to the animation of his song “Ain’t No Grave.” The difference with the Exquisite Forest is that artists can grow their own art trees in a forest of digital art.

Lost and Found

Born in 1896, Charles Weever Cushman was an amateur photographer who extensively documented his world from 1938 to 1969 in approximately 14,500 Kodachrome color slides. Produced for the NPR Picture Show, Lost and Found allows users to explore his collection of color photographs and to witness the life of this prolific and perhaps obsessive amateur photographer.
