Lucie Week: October 5 – 8, 2012
Interested in photography? Want to learn more? The Lucie Foundation has a rich list of programming planned this weekend as part of Lucie Week, including lectures and exhibitions, most of which are free with an RSVP. Here’s the list of activities. One should surely fit into your schedule.
Friday, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.: 10 Years of Lucie Masters Exhibition at the Robert Berman Gallery, #B-7, Bergamot Station Art Center, 2525 Michigan Ave., Santa Monica. This event is free.
Saturday, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.: The 2012 International Photography Awards Best of Show exhibition at Smashbox Studios, 8549 Higuera St., Culver City. This event is free with RSVP.
On Sunday, there will be a full day of Lucie Lectures at Pier 59 Studios, 2415 Michigan Ave. #300, Santa Monica. All guests must register through EventBrite in order to attend any lectures. Events include:
11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. — Copyright in the Digital Age, with Richard Kelly. Free on a first-come, first-served basis with mandatory registration.
1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. — Photography as an Instrument for Social Change, with Sharon Cavanagh and Lucie Humanitarian honorees Nancy McGirr (2011) and Sara Terry (2008). Moderated by Bobbi Fabian.
3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. — Media Management and the Creative Process, with Peter Krough.
5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. — Light, Capture, Post: Tools to Help You Enhance Your Photographic Style, with celebrity and advertising photographer Michael Muller.
5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. — Annenberg Space for Photography Lecture: Brigitte Lacombe – 1975-2012: Around the World — Portraits & Places. Tickets: http://annenbergspaceforphotography.org/events/iris-nights.
The events conclude with the presentation of the Lucie Awards, which recognize photographers who have made an impact and contribution to the world of photography.
The event will be held Monday at 6 p.m. at the Beverly Hilton. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.lucies.org
