Wednesday’s Pictures in the News begins in Thailand, where Buddhist monks release lanterns in Bangkok during celebrations for Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 85th birthday.

The mood was decidedly more somber in the Philippines, where Typhoon Bopha, one of the strongest typhoons to hit the Philippines this year, barreled across the country’s southern end, killing more than 270 people, triggering landslides, flooding and cutting off power in two entire provinces. In Europe, people struggle against wind and drifting snow in Stockholm. In England, drummers from the 3rd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment arrive at York Minster for a homecoming service after recently completing a six-month tour of duty in Afghanistan, where they lost seven comrades.

    i feel very sorry about the poeple in that contry i have a lot of freiends there not in that area but this contry this year have been hard for them my blessing for them
