‘Mission 26: The Big Endeavour’ at California Science Center

The space shuttle Endeavour’s arrival and crosstown trek in Los Angeles was well-documented in photos. The California Science Center, where the orbiter now calls home, has curated a photographic exhibition of 80 images, “Mission 26: The Big Endeavour.” The collection includes photographs by NASA, the Sacramento Bee, Getty Images, the Los Angeles Times and other photographers. Above are the photos from The Times in the show. Visitors are taken day-by-day through highlights of Endeavour’s flight over California and 12-mile, 68-hour journey through city streets to its final destination in the Samuel Oschin Pavilion at the science center. Most of the photos are 21 inches by 14 inches, but the largest wall photo is 76 inches by 50 inches, with murals up to 12 feet by 10 feet. A comprehensive time-lapse video by filmmaker David Knight (the video above is by the Los Angeles Times) and school projects by Century Park West fifth-graders bring viewers back to that time nearly six months ago.

The exhibit opens March 11
