August 1969: Two boys stop to investigate an adult book store in Lennox.
In 1969 public officials were trying to close down the adult entertainment establishments in Lennox, an unincorporated Los Angeles County neighborhood. This photo by former staff photographer Gil Cooper was published as lead art in the Aug. 24, 1969 Los Angeles Times South Bay edition accompanying a Times story on the government crackdown.
Before publication, the “Marina Federal” sign and logo on the photographic print was painted gray by a Los Angeles Times staff artist.

Great picture. Looks like a subject that Norman Rockwell would embrace.
