Touching City Hall

Touching City Hall

Nov. 18, 1973: The original Los Angeles Times caption reported:

TAKING CITY HALL’S MEASURE–Hugh and Kim Grace have fun pretending to touch top of City Hall. Photographer arranged it all, posing couple on Bunker Hill and using telephoto lens.

This photo by retired staff photographer Boris Yaro was published as lead art on page 3 of the Los Angeles Times.

This image is an example of “foreshortening,” a word describing how a telephoto lens appears to enlarge distant objects compared with foreground objects. The opposite, using a wide angle lens, makes distant objects appear smaller when compared with foreground objects.
