Pictures in the News | July 1, 2013

Monday’s Pictures in the News begins in California, with a couple riding down Market Street with a “Just Married” sign on the motorcycle during the annual gay pride parade in San Francisco. Gay marriages resumed in California over the weekend despite a latch-ditch attempt to halt same-sex unions by supporters of Proposition 8.

Hundreds of thousands of protesters swelled through villages and cities Sunday, denouncing Egypt’s Islamist president and raising fears of a new revolution that could divide the nation, threaten its young democracy and sink its troubled economy. More photos

Elsewhere, riot police officers clash with protesters in Rio de Janeiro a few hours before the final of the FIFA Confederations Cup football tournament between Brazil and Spain; a bull attacks a horse during a bullfighting event in Colombia; and President Obama dances to music upon arrival on Air Force One at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

Add stops in India, China, France and Death Valley to round out the report.
