As a devastating fire continued to burn nearby, 19 fallen firefighters were honored at a vigil in Prescott, Ariz., where we begin Wednesday’s Pictures in the News. About 3,000 people gathered at a high school athletic  field Tuesday evening to honor the 19 firefighters who died on the fire line. Some wore purple clothes or carried purple ribbons; others wore black T-shirts with the logo of the fallen crew, the Granite Mountain hotshots.  More photos

Also in today’s roundup:

Cairo:  Protesters calling for the ouster of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi react as they watch him address the nation on a video screen. More photos

Pretoria, South Africa: The vigil of well-wishers continues outside the hospital where Nelson Mandela is receiving care.

Washington: Gun-rights supporters stage what they call the “Armed Toy Gun March on D.C.”

Paris: Where would you find a woman in exotic clothing, with a couple of elongated dogs, in a luxurious garden setting?  (You guessed right — at a fashion show.)

We also have photos of Asimo the robot in Tokyo, Wimbledon tennis and Tour de France cycling, so please take a look.
