People comfort one another after a fireworks accident that left 28 injured. Many spectators at Rancho Santa Susana Community Park were hit by flying debris. Authorities said the event was staffed with police, park rangers and firefighters, who were able to quickly treat the injured.

Fireworks spectacles for the Fourth of July

Fireworks demonstrations lit up the night skies across the country to celebrate Independence Day.

Spectators lined the sand to watch the show above the Huntington Beach pier.

A fireworks and light show at the new Grand Park near L.A. City Hall entertained a throng of revelers who came out for the Fourth of July celebration.

In Simi Valley, 28 people were injured when at least one pyrotechnic device prematurely detonated in its mortar Thursday night, authorities said, causing a chain reaction that tipped over other pyrotechnics and launched them into the crowd.
