The X Games are getting underway Thursday in Los Angeles,  and they’re expected to draw large crowds of extreme-sports fans to Staples Center, L.A. Live and the Irwindale Event Center. This year’s event marks the end of an 11-year run for the games in Los Angeles; in 2014 they’ll move to Austin, Texas. But before the games end Sunday, fans will be treated to sights such as Marcelo Bastos of Brazil going vertical during a skateboard practice.

Also in today’s roundup:

France: More than 400 hot-air balloons take off at once during an international hot-air balloon meeting.

Germany: Earning today’s oh-so-cute award is a Vilma the polar bear, who shakes off some water at a zoo.

London: England endures a heat wave (well, a heat wave for the region, anyway — temperatures are in the high 80s).

Spain: Is it a bird, or a plane, or … a high-diver? Michal Navratil makes like a superhero wearing a cape during the high-diving competition.

There’s more, too, including stops in China, Alaska and Argentina, so please take a look.

The US/ Westren lead insurgency in Syria must be stopped at the earliest . this is in the best interest of the region including West . Isreal will not like this to happen and so are the puppet gulf ststes , the kindom of Lawrence of Arabia ( saudi Arabia ) Al Quida will take over and the west including the puppets will shiver, and at the same time feel the heat.
