X Games take flight in Los Angeles for last time

This year’s X Games, which run through Sunday, are expected to attract large crowds to Staples Center, LA Live and the Irwindale Event Center. But last week, ESPN, which owns the event, announced that the 2014 X Games would move to Austin, Texas, after AEG and ESPN made a joint decision to end the run in Los Angeles.

TEXAS? Are you kidding me? Do the powers that be have ANY idea how miserable the heat and humidity are there? This has got to be one of the stupidest decisions I've ever heard of…

They will regret that when they realize how hot/cold/rainy/stormy Texas can be compared to beautiful southern California.

Why move the event? Doesn’t seem that people are all that excited about it except ESPN and AEG. For once can you poll the fans and competitors and may the majority vote rule!! Even if the majority says Austin .. I’m cool with it as long as it has the popular vote .. I just don’t think this decision has everyone’s best interest .. But I’m sure your (ESPN/AEG) wallets are getting fatter .. That’s usually what all this boils down to. I am glad the event will continue however

Austin's market simply suites what the X-Games are looking for. Austin already has a huge following with the ever-so-popular SXSW, and the vibe of the city is exactly what the X-Games should be about. Perfect match!
