1930 construction jams traffic

1930 construction jams traffic

Oct. 1930: Construction on Pico Boulevard, looking west from Figueroa Street, jams traffic.

When this photo was published in the Oct. 26, 1930, Los Angeles Times, the caption added:

Do You Enjoy Jam?

If so–here’s your chance. Our photographer happened in the vicinity of Figueroa and Pico last week and snapped a few “shots” of the nifty mess that the contractors have made of traffic at that busy corner….

Three photos were published in The Times that day. The other two prints are not in the archive with this photo. I’ll add them when located.

It looked nearly like this just the other day when I was downtown with all the needless construction going on down there right now. Horrible…
