In Tuesday’s Pictures in the News, the late Nelson Mandela, former president of South Africa, is honored at a memorial in Johannesburg, South Africa. Mandela died Dec. 5 at his home in Houghton at the age of 95. Mandela became South Africa’s first black president in 1994 after spending 27 years in jail for his activism against apartheid in racially divided South Africa.

Los Angeles: Angela Spaccia, the former second in command in the scandal-plagued city of Bell, is found guilty on 11 out of 13 criminal charges in the  municipal corruption case on Monday in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom.
