LONDON, April 19––Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks arrived in London this afternoon as bright and shining celebrities among 1500 Americans who landed at Southhampton this morning. Cheering crowds held in check by the police gave the pair extraordinary receptions both at Southhampton and here in London, the newspapers donating “our Mary” a comfortable portion of their front pages.
The film sovereigns will be the guests of Lord Louis Mountbatten, cousin of king George, and present engagements include balls, receptions, dinners in their honor to be given in the next fortnight by the Duke and Duchess of Sutherland, Sir James Barrie, the London Post of the American Legion and others…
Fairbanks Sr. and Mary Pickford returned to Los Angeles on Aug. 6, 1924.
