In Thursday’s Pictures in the News, Indian Muslims break their Ramadan fast outside the Shah Baba Mosque at Allahabad Junction railway station. Joining millions around the world, Muslims celebrate the holy month of Ramadan by abstaining from food and drink from before dawn until dusk.

Stuttgart, Germany: A supermarket worker arranges fruits and vegetables to resemble the German and French national flags. The two teams will meet in the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup 2014 on Friday.

Edinburgh, Scotland: Queen Elizabeth II attends a commemorative service at the Scottish National War Memorial at Edinburgh Castle. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh spent the week in Scotland attending various events and staying at the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The visit comes before Scotland’s referendum vote on independence in September.
