APhotoADay auction proceeds to fund photographer grants

APhotoADay or APAD, the online listserv community and organizing force behind the annual GeekFest workshops, will use proceeds from their annual print auction to directly fund grants for working photographers. Grant money is intended to be used to tell stories that would otherwise go untold. The auction will be held online through Paddle 8 and begins today and ends Sept. 16.

The prints to be auctioned, some of which are shown in the gallery above, will be donated by Ed Kashi, Vince Musi, Melissa Farlow, Randy Olson, Damon Winter, Todd Heisler, Liz O. Baylen and Barbara Davidson among others.

APhotoADay has grown significantly over the past decade, becoming a support system of sorts for photographers. The annual GeekFest workshops attract veteran photographers as well as those just starting out with an aim to develop a sense of community. This years GeekFest will be in Philadelphia from Sept. 12-14.
