Kunduz, Afghanistan: Afghan security officials secure the scene of a suicide bomb blast that targeted the office of a local attorney general. At least eight people, including the four perpetrators, were killed during a Taliban attack on the office of a local attorney general in the northern Afghan province of Kunduz. The victims included two policemen and two prosecutors. Three policemen and three prosecutors were also injured in the attack, which was claimed by the Taliban.

Hamilton, Canada: A World War II veteran who is also a retired Hamilton police officer says hello to one of the mounted units after attending the public visitation for Cpl. Nathan Cirillo at the Markey-Dermody Funeral Home. Cirillo, a 24-year-old reservist with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada, was gunned down Oct. 22 as he stood ceremonial guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.
