Photographer gets wet

Photographer gets wet

Jan. 28, 1983: A photographer jumps as wave crashes ashore, left, and then almost disappears in the boiling surf.

This two-photo combo by staff photographer Boris Yaro was published in the Jan. 29, 1983, Los Angeles Times. Yaro was at Faria Beach in Ventura County photographing a house being slammed by waves. The old coast highway, replaced by a freeway, runs right next to the Pacific Ocean. Yaro reported that the waves were tossing rocks onto the road and that this unknown photographer got too close.

This photo combo has been added to the Photojournalists on the Job photo gallery.

Hopefully one of our readers knows the photographer and will help identify him.
