In Thursday’s Pictures in the News, firefighters battle a fast-moving brush fire in Santa Clarita that briefly forced more than 1,000 residents to flee their homes. The Calgrove fire has burned 398 acres near the 5 Freeway and was 60% contained Thursday morning, Los Angeles County fire inspector David Dantic said. He said fresh firefighters were attacking the flames and have slowed the fire’s spread.
