Winters, CA: The glow of flames from the Wragg Fire is visible in Winters, Calif., where the wildfire has burned more than 6,000 acres and threatens nearly 200 homes as it moves through dry brush near Lake Berryessa.

La Pampa, Peru: Peruvian riot police stand by at the end of an interdiction operation in the illegal gold mining area in southern Peru.  In an unprecedented operation in mid-July, Peru managed to eliminate 55 camps for illegal gold mining in the area.
