June 1956: This image of Los Angeles City Hall South Lawn appeared in the June 19, 1956 Los Angeles Times. The original caption reported:

KNOW YOUR CITY, NO. 224–Do not get us wrong. We do not believe in looking down on the city. But that’s what the camera happened to be doing here. Can you guess what it is looking down upon––and from where? See Page 8, Part 2.

ANSWER–Probably quite a few people have never seen the little park at the south end of the City Hall from this angle, because, let’s face it, not everybody in town has been to the top of City Hall tower where the camera was. Street on top of picture is 1st St. and at left, of course, is Main St., at the right Spring St. …
