Jan. 24, 1938: Miss Sylvia Aleks and Otto Val Rzehak feed the visiting seagulls while they boat ride at Westlake Park.

This photo was published in the Jan. 25, 1938, Los Angeles Times. A short brief added:

A total of 232,728 persons rode on the boats and canoes in Westlake, Echo, Hollenback and Lincoln parks during 1937 without an accident, William J. Daze reported yesterday to the Park Commission.

In 1942, Westlake Park was renamed MacArthur Park after Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
