1938 Hudson at San Diego mission
July 1938: Mission San Diego de Alcala located in Mission Valley. The car is a 1938 Hudson six sedan.
In the 1930s and ’40s, Los Angeles Times outdoor editor Lynn J. Rogers wrote the “Scout Party” travelogue column on day trips around Southern California. His columns often featured the use of various automobiles.
For his trip to San Diego, Rogers reported, “The Times-General Petroleum Corporation scout party, driving a Mobilgas-fueled 1938 Hudson six sedan furnished for the trip by the Hudson Terraplane dealers of Los Angeles, visited the southern port last week.”
This photo, probably taken by Rogers, accompanied his column in the July 10, 1938, Los Angeles Times.
